A muddle of interests

If I were a Briton, I’d vote Fawkes.
Not because I’m a Catholic, but because I’m afraid of government. Blowing up parliament maybe a less than ideal solution (too abrupt, leading to chaos and not proper anarchy – which is not orderlessness, but rulerlessness), but it’s preferable to letting them go on with their misrule.
Now, when he would be voted into power, Guy Fawkes may focus more on catholic policies than only on blowing up #parliament, he only reason I had for voting for him. When government is so totalitarian as the modern governments are, the desires of the public will most likely not be met. And in a multi-party system, such as in the Netherlands, the one single reason one couod have for voting for a particular candidate, stand a good chance of being washed away in the coalition-formation talks.
This goes beyond the differene of desires of different voters; because government meddles with so much, the odds against #government doing something the voter wishes, on time, are astronomical.

Not from zero

While it’s true that #capitalism lay behind the beginnings of #colonialism (people forming corporations to fund expeditions out to unknown regions of the planet), it is the free market (not exactly the same as capitalism, but close enough), that put a stop to the exploitation of slaves in the colonies, due to morals evolving to the point that people voted with their feet (wallets) against businesses that still used those practices. Early on, people feltno qualms about enslaving other people, this changed over time. (And so long as there will not be any ingroup-outgroup thinking (such as politicians foster to more easily divide and conquer it is unlikely thay slavery will recur)
This means that, as #society will not start all over again after some changes occurred, some of the morals will be kept, like the aversion against slavery, and quite simply the release from government’s clutches will be felt as such a relief, that cultural memory will revolt against any attempts to subdue anyone (whether a group or a person).
Societies carry their good baggage with them over time, across social changes. They also take bad baggage with them, for instance the legacy of aggression which continues to yield social damage. That is regrettable but unavoidable. Initially, the “red in tooth and claw” may hold, but, over time, people will grow to dislike that. Which is some of the good #social damage I refer to.

Applying the NAP

You may have heard of the problem of incoming meteorites/asteroids. Not only did one kill the dinosaurs, another one may end up killing the human race, too. A solution that has been proposed, is to blow it to bits with a rocket-launched nuke. This will not work, because it will rresult in lots of smaller debris landing on earth, causing heaven nows what damage. Instead of going the aggressive route (of blowing it up), a solution may be to use the nuke to deflect the heavenly body away from earth’s trajectory, use a hit on the side, in a glancing blow, tonot usebrute force to get it to stop, but instead nudge it onto a different path that will comply with both our wishes.

Subsidies for public transport

Public transport is really very bad for the #environment, as proven by the subsidies for #buses and #trains and #trams. If they wouldn’t waste so much energy, they would need less subsidy or even none at all. Compare that to cars: government tries to tax them into oblivion, and still they are a more attractive form of transportation than public transport. This indicates that the environment is not a reason for trying to get people into public transport (maybe it is: after all, it’s government we’re talking about, the make-work program for the maliciously incompetent). What else may be the reason then?

  • The desire to impose changes: aka the maleable society, or the designer society.
  • Sadism: they know how unpleasant PT is and they hope to force us into it. And, well, they also claim that traffic jams are bad for the environment, yet they refuse to do anything about them, hoping to harm our environment and that way, us. So sadism is a realistic option, not to be discounted out of hand.
  • Wishing economic harm upon the population; it has long been complained that traffic jams cause severe economic damage, those complaints have in 51 years not resulted in attempts to cure the traffic jams.

Now that the evil institution has added the climate-lie (it was government that did so, not any democratic institution like the people, or business), the reasons for continuing to allow the decadent luxury of public transport to exist, are dwindling.
